Biosketch

Dr.Secker is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, the Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Science, and the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.She directs the Joint Centre for Bioethics Clinical, Organizational and Research Ethics (CORE) Network, its postgraduate Academic Fellowship in Clinical and Organizational Ethics, the Masters in Bioethics Program, and the graduate Collaborative Program in Bioethics at the University of Toronto. Sher received her PhD through the University of Toronto's Department of Philosophy with a specialization in bioethics through the Collaborative Program in Bioethics, a MA (Philosophy) from Simon Fraser Universityher and a BA from the University of Toronto.

  1. Bioethics/health care ethics
  2. Disability, rehabilitation and community care ethics
  3. Social justice for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, including "adequate" home environments
  4. Client autonomy, including client decision-making capacity and informed consent in health and research contexts
  5. Advance care planning
  6. Ethics program innovation, development, service delivery and evaluation
