Welcome to OT at U of T

I am delighted to introduce you to the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto. Our vibrant program is an exciting place to learn and practice the knowledge and skills of the profession of occupational therapy and will lead to an MScOT. Our 27 core and 237 clinical faculty members provide dynamic, evidence-based and comprehensive instruction and mentorship in occupational science and occupational therapy throughout the two year professional program. Situated in the heart of the city, we offer a huge range of fieldwork placements in leading acute, rehabilitation and long term care facilities, and in established and innovative community settings. Many of our students also arrange for national and international fieldwork placements.
Our dedicated team of staff members supports students throughout their program. Our world class library system and information technologies and our state of the art classrooms enhance students’ learning. In addition to these assets, one of the most valuable components of our program is the way that our first and second year students are thoroughly engaged in the curriculum in ways that mirror the demands of professional and interprofessional practices.
The Department is part of the School of Graduate Studies and the Faculty of Medicine, and shares 500 University Avenue with the Departments of Physical Therapy and Speech Language Pathology, and with Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Science. The GDRS offers doctoral stream training at both the MSc and PhD levels.
I invite you to explore this website to learn more about our educational program and our research, our clinical community and our faculty and staff. In addition to the resources for prospective students, I suggest that you also read our background materials on What is OS & OT?, Department History, Faculty and Staff of the Department, and News & Events, as well as specific curriculum information in Program Schedule and Timetables, Graduate Student Handbook, Teaching & Learning Methods, and Description of Courses. The sections on Admissions and Money Matters will help you with your application to the program.
All the best in your deliberations, and we look forward to your application.
Susan Rappolt, PhD, OT Reg. (Ont.)
